Responsible for driving value through our digital platforms, channels and campaigns, this important, strategic role is primarily focused on developing and implementing integrated digital activity to boost customer acquisition and retention.

Through effective team management, this role also ensures that all digital communications are goal-orientated, relevant, timely, up-to-date and accessible to teachers, and other stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Communications Development

  • Develop a Digital Strategy, in liaison with Head of Marketing, to ensure emerging trends, platform improvements and digital opportunities are maximised
  • Develop, and continuously improve, our digital communication plans to deliver the specific requirements from the Marketing and Communications Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and maintain structures/ formats for the use of digital media within WJEC, ensuring the most appropriate solutions are followed, keeping up to date with digital legislation changes to ensure company compliance.
  • Constantly monitor the use of our digital media and recommend appropriate enhancements for improved efficiencies to benefit the business and our customers.
  • Ensure our digital V.I. is properly maintained, within brand guidelines, proactively making improvements as and when necessary.
  • Develop impactful campaign content which aims to innovate and add value to the strategic plan

Content Development

  • Develop a content planning model to ensure all content on our digital platforms is informative, engaging, imaginative, and up-to-date
  • Ensure all web content is current, up to date and relevant. This includes working with all content authors to help them maintain their sections on the website.
  • Lead on development of new websites for the business (WJEC, CBAC and Eduqas) – including key decision making around requirements and testing.
  • Work with internal colleagues to promote relevant services and products in the most appropriate manner to stakeholders across all our digital platforms (including but not limited to: our websites, social media, email).
  • Ensure that evolving ‘Best Practice’ is applied across all digital media as and when appropriate to the education sector, the company and our customers. Creating / adopting innovative solutions to digital challenges across all platforms
  • Keep up-to-date with new customer-focused developments in online media and consider the appropriateness of their use in promoting WJEC/ Eduqas, recommending new processes where appropriate.

Technical Development

  • Play a lead role, and where appropriate work in close in liaison with the IT team and other key stakeholders, in the continuous improvement and development of all our digital platforms.
  • To monitor competitors’ and other websites in order to ensure that our websites continue to meet or surpass customer expectations.
  • To monitor competitors’ digital marketing activity and provide insights/recommendations.

Managing resources

  • Manage digital marketing budget and make decisions for spend optimisation
  • Direct line management of web development and content team/output
  • Direct line management of Digital Marketing team
  • Line management of any temporary staff or contractors recruited to support our digital marketing activities
  • Lead by example, to ensure team members are goal orientated and are given opportunities to develop in their roles and for future career paths
  • Produce, using web analytics, monthly management reports on website statistics and feedback from customers to inform and improve our digital communications.
  • Proactively support the business in maintaining best practise in our digital media.
  • Assist Marketing in developing online resources for the development and maintenance of Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Managing 3rd party suppliers such as Space & Time Media, Talking Social Media and any digital marketing consultants
  • Managing and maintaining a websites audit for the list of web pages and documents and user inventory for content ownership
  • Managing and maintaining marketing data

Strategy and policy

  • Develop and own the website strategy and approve all web content and email communications for Eduqas
  • Review digital marketing system software and collaborate with IT to improve as appropriate
  • Create and maintain the digital marketing strategy
  • Create and maintain social media policy and 'Welsh on the website' policy
  • Create and maintain the guidelines for web copy writing
  • Develop and manage induction programme and ongoing staff training on digital marketing system software
  • Develop and embed KPIs for key digital marketing channels including website, email, social media and digital advertising
