Cardiff Dance Festival's picture

Cardiff Dance Festival is a biennial festival that first took place in 2015. Our next festival will be in November 2021.

Our long-term aim is to help build a thriving ecology for dance in Cardiff. There are many ways to do that, and particular things festivals can be good at.

Growing audiences for dance and reaching new audiences are cornerstones of what we want to achieve. Encouraging collaboration and partnership between organisations is another, and we want to support training and professional development in an ambitious way.

The flavour of different festivals will change over time. We're certain, though, that a commitment to presenting work by leading companies and practitioners based in Wales, alongside performances of exemplary work by UK and international artists, will remain a constant.

For CDF19 our programme partners included Chapter, g39, Groundwork, National Dance Company Wales, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, University of South Wales and Wales Millennium Centre.

Artists and companies from Wales involved in the festival have included include Jo Fong, Siriol Joyner, Marega Palser, Simon Whitehead, Joanna Young, Good News From The Future, National Dance Company Wales and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.

UK and International artists and companies who've been involved include Daina Ashbee (Québec/Canada), Basement 21 (India), Rosalind Crisp (Australia), Tereza Hadlikova (Czech Republic), Igor and Moreno (UK), maribé - sort de ce corps (Québec/Canada), Jan Martens (Belgium) and Rambert2 (UK).
