Emma Watkins is a playwright, scholar and performer, specializing in the creation and study of contemporary theatrical (re)inventions of Welsh & Celtic myth and folklore.

In May 2018, Emma graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in the United States, where she studied English literature, Music Theatre and Environmental Studies. With the support of a U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Grant, she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at Cardiff University, studying contemporary storytelling performances Welsh medieval literature and mythology with Professor Sioned Davies.

In her creative and academic work, Emma is interested in the revival of mythology and folklore through storytelling and musical performances. She is particularly interested in how threads from myth and folk traditions can be used to explore contemporary issues of identity, feminism and environmentalism.
