About

Through group singing, The Aloud Charity changes the lives of young people across Wales. Our activities offer unique opportunities for teenagers, providing them with the self-confidence and skills they need to fulfil their potential.

Established in 2012, the charity delivers  activity through three central strands: Only Boys Aloud (a boys choir increasing self-esteem and motivation for young Welsh men); the Only Kids Aloud Chorus (a pan-Wales choir of talented primary-aged girls and boys); and the OBA Academi (a residential course for senior and ambitious OBA members).

Other projects include the OBA Academi (a senior residential course for 32 of the most committed OBA members who show greatest potential), Aloud in the Classroom which delivers sessions in primary schools, and the Aloud Girls – a pilot choral project working with young women in South Wales.

In a formal evaluation, 91% of parents said their child’s confidence had improved due to their engagement with Aloud; 69% of teenagers felt they had got better at working as part of a team; 53% report an improvement in understanding and accepting others who are different; and 53% are planning to go to university when they weren’t before.

Aloud reaches millions of audiences online and onstage, from local Welsh communities to international concert halls. Outreach workshops in 2019 engaged with over 2,000 boys in over 40 secondary schools across the country and we have more than 1000 OBA alumni.
