About

Hello! I'm Katie, an audio producer and editor, and the current Broadcast Technician at Radio Platfform, a youth-led community station based at the Wales Millennium Centre. Alongside this I am working towards my Master's in Cultural and Creative Industries at Cardiff University in which most of my research has focused on the radio industry in the modern age, including the experience of queer employees and the impacts of cuts to BBC local radio.
I am experienced in radio and podcast production, having produced, scripted and edited several radio shows, podcasts, and audio dramas. At Burn FM, I was elected Head of Programming 21/22 and my innovative changes to the role as well as my constant commitment earned me the Youlton Contribution Award by station management. Previously, I achieved a first class degree in History from the University of Birmingham and I bring these skills to my research practices when approaching new productions that I work on.

Winner of the Youlton Contribution Award 2022 for 'unprecedented commitment to the role of Head of Programming' according to the Station Manager of Burn FM. I contributed to winning the Guild of Students Bounce Back Award 2022 for Burn FM by ensuring the return to live radio post-pandemic ran smoothly and efficiently.
